Ram Tirth

Situated 8 km from Amritsar on Lopoke-Chogawan road lies an old Hindu temple and a huge pond. Known to be the birthplace of the twin sons of Lord Rama, where they were brought up along with their mother Sita on this land after having made to leave their kingdom. It is here where they stopped the famous white horse that was left by the Kingdom of Lord Rama as a sign of peace. Every year in November a huge fair (mela) is held and is visited by lakhs of devotees.

Tarn Taran
This is a small religious city located 25 km south of Amritsar. It was established by the fifth teacher, Guru Arjan Dev, in 1596. Houses a famous Gurudwara, atleast twice the size of the Golden Temple with a much larger tank and having immense religious value.

Radha Swani Satsang, Beas
50 kms from Amritsar in Beas is the famous Radha Swami center. Known for its specific teachings it has a large number of followers like Osho in Pune. They promote a policy of no vices as smoking, drinking, eating meat and every Sunday there is a big satsang held.

Harike-Patan
On the Ferozepur road, 60 km from Amritsar there is a confluence of the rivers Sutlej & Beas. This small town is known as Harike and its marshy wetlands and the water reservoir attracted a constellation of birds. Thus in 1982 it became to be known and established as a bird sanctuary, thus Harike Patan.

Baba Bakala
A small town by Amritsar prominent on the map of the Sikh religion due to its connections with the ninth Sikh teacher. It was here at Gurudwara Bheera Sahib that Guru Teg Bahadhar meditated for 20 years.

Khadur Sahib
About 50 km on south-east of Amritsar is Khadur. Known to be the settling place of the second teacher Guru Angad Dev, there are six historical gurudwaras in this city. Khadur is also related to the famous Guru Nanak.

Goindwal
Goindwal is a small town situated on the right bank of the river Sutlej, 50 km from Amritsar. The third teacher Guru Amardas settled here. The famous 84 steps are of great value to the Sikh religion wherein a prayer is repeatedly recited at each of the 84 steps as part of their ritual. This recitation takes over half a day to complete.
